Questions and answers

About planning, winter tours and summer tours. If your question is not here, write to us.

Planning

How far ahead should I write?

Months ahead for the summer Ring Road, because the hotels need booking too. For day tours a few days can be enough.

Is this a booking?

No. An enquiry is only a question. We book the day once you accept the offer.

How do I pay?

By card, through a secure payment link we send with the offer. The offer gives the payment deadline.

What if we cancel?

Day tours can be cancelled free up to 48 hours before. The terms for multi-day trips are in the offer.

Where do you pick us up?

In Reykjavík at your hotel or the nearest bus stop, because larger vehicles may not drive into the old centre.

In winter

How cold is it in winter?

In Reykjavík winter is mostly around 0 degrees, but the wind makes it feel colder. Dress in layers; we lend the rest of the warm gear.

What if a storm comes?

With a storm warning or a closed road we do not go. We suggest a new day or give you the price back.

Can children come in winter?

Yes. We bring child seats and small shoe spikes. Tell us their ages.

In summer

Does it really not get dark in summer?

In mid-June the sun only sets for a few hours, and even then it does not get dark. There are no northern lights then, but you can walk at ten in the evening.

Can we go to the highlands?

The highland roads are open from June to September. We run private trips to Landmannalaugar; ask for an offer.

Good to know before you come

  • When should you come?

In summer the days are long and every road is open. From September to April you can see the northern lights, and from November to March we can visit an ice cave.

  • How do you get to Reykjavík?

Keflavík airport is 50 kilometres from the city. The airport bus takes about 45 minutes, or we can pick you up at the airport on the Reykjanes tour.

  • What should you wear?

Layers: a base layer, a wool jumper, a waterproof jacket and trousers, and a hat and gloves even in summer. The full list is in our guide.

Tell us when you are coming, and we will plan your days

Tell us when you will be in Iceland, how many you are and what interests you. We check the free days and send a suggestion with a route and a price. You only book once you like the offer.

We are on the road during the day, so writing is the easiest way to reach us. We reply in the evening.Dóra and Levente, Bazalt Túrák
